I have been driv’n this old tater hard for the last 13K+ miles (since my 95 S10 automatic trans expired last summer) and TBP has always been very noisy from the 5spd manual trans in high gear.. well it finally seized/locked up on the hwy last Friday (3/5/2010). Turns out it has been low on fluid and I failed to monitor it closely (I was always worried about the old engine more). I pulled it home , it cooled off and I was able to get the shifter moving again to top off the fluid ( a bit late LOL). I limped it to work Monday and Tuesday this week, driving it 4th instead of 5th. Well Tuesday going home it finally completely gave up the ghost..the gears and all are crunched up in the tranny after loosing 4 th gear. It’s shot , blown , kapoot !
But………… I have my trusty 84 4×4 S10 v6 automatic parts truck and a complete conversion to automatic is the next phase for this saga. I have put my 95 pick up (Squatch Hunter 1) in the tranny shop and it will be back on the road why TBP waits on me to do the swap.. I plan to return the truck to standard shift sometime down the road but the new 3.4 liter V6 needs to get put together to upgrade the tired 2.8 and the automatic will be coupled to it.. I will be able to pull a reasonable sized trailer with the new setup though and BOTH trucks we be on the road at the same time later this year..Nice !
